Great day out at Brownacres with a convincing win.

The lads were all looking forward to a duel with our fellow "Weybridge" rivals. Apparently Heathside School has been a venue for some unofficial betting/bartering over the result. Safe to say that at least 6 of the Heathside lads now owe Callum Roker our captain quite a lot.

Vandals intention was to hit Reeds hard from the outset and thats exactly what happened. The first try was just around the 90 second mark and then at regular intervals until we reached 40 nil before the half way interval.

It looked like our lads had much more determination and were able to recycle the ball very quickly. Reeds had the edge on weight in the pack but seldomly used it to full advantage. You could clearly see the Reeds bunch were well drilled and most had great technique, just on the day not as good as a Vandals side that with the increased numbers this year really seem to be believing in themselves.

The rucks were tight (although pinged a few times) and the ball was released phase through phase up the pitch with apparent ease.

Changes were made at half time to get some league practice for all players which is very important and although we let Reeds in for a try, the second half remained very much in control.

The lads all played well and stuck to their task even under pressure by the odd comment from the other side. I dont think the Reeds winger will engage in the name calling again (when he remembers what day it is after being smashed), retribution indeed.

A great squad performance and a great improvement over this time last year. We missed a couple of the squad but proved that the quality of all is rising constantly.

Training as normal Wednesday, which will be more skills based as most are playing Wednesday. Please make sure you still attend.

Tries: Marli Casemore, Daniel Wellden 4, Bryn Hassan, Joe Collyer 2.
Conversions: David Jones 2, Daniel Wellden 4
