There were some familiar faces in the joint Redingensians and Reading Abbey combined team. That said vandals started off with a strong defense and the forwards putting into practice the recent rukking excercises.
Vandals had 2 new wingers and a new fly-half centre combination for the game. All worked well in the first half and culminated in a first try (I am sure of many) from Marli on the right wing. David would have one cross bar challenge and scored a conversion had the ball dropped the other side of the bar.
5-0 half time and then time to change things around a bit. A great try by Jack Woodley, 2 from Alex Page 1 from Daniel Wellden and 1 from Joe Collyer saw that the game was beyond doubt.
A great result and pleasing to note that all played with typical vandals passion. Particular mention to captain Callum Roker who kept pushing the forwards all game.
Fitness is key and this was evident in bundles today. Well done lads and 1st league game versus Reeds next Sunday at Vandals.
Selection Wednesday after training so please set your availability now. Only 22 can be selected for the league game so a bit of healthy competition can push the squad forward.
