Excellent team effort, worthy of the result.

21 Vandals made the trip to Old Caterhamians, probably knowing they needed to produce a result today on the back of some great performances over the last few weeks.
The pitch was perfect for open rugby, with the weather also playing its part.
The game started well for Vandals with an early score from James Gulliver which was converted by Harry Weatherall. This was followed by a lapse which allowed Old Cats to score an uncoverted try.
There seemed to be a lot of nerves evident and mistakes were plenty and the flow of play was disrupted. Eventually, James Gulliver struck again, taking the ball deep and going the full length of the pitch to score, this time with ample support evident. Harry Weatherall converted.
James Gulliver then struck again with a great individual try and Harry Weatherall converted. The whistle went for half time, Vandals leading 5 - 19.
From the kick off, Old Cats put pressure on Vandals and forced their way to the 5 metre line where they struck from a lineout, throwing to the front, catching Vandals snoozing and another try was scored which they converted. Vandals then pressuried Old Cats from the start and James Gulliver was sin binned for a deliberate high tackle on the receiver of the kick off.
This was the incident that triggered the determination and aggression from Vandals and they controlled the game for the sin bin time and Rory Burtenshaw managed to score a try under the posts which was converted by Harry Weatherall. The rest of the time James Gulliver was off the field, the team remained determined not to give anything away at all and subdued Old Cats and kept them in their half.
After James Gulliver returned to the field, the tempo of the game remained high from Vandals and James scored 2 more tries and one was converted by Harry Weatherall.
At the final whistle, Vandals had won convincingly by 12 - 40.
A truly team effort with many stepping up and making huge efforts. Man of the Match went to James Shaw who was immense on the wing, making great tackles time after time and organising the backs well. A great performance James, well done. James Gulliver deserves mention for his scoring and ability but misses out because he was sin binned! (It was a way for their referee to even the game up.)

Boys, it is very important that you continue to build of the performances of the last 2 weeks and take the momentum forward to the League game next week at home to Cranleigh.
