The Owls touch sessions on Wednesday eves will continue throughout the summer..........

Dear Owls

As you know the club has been holding a summer touch rugby session every Wednesday evening during the summer with the last session taking place last night. From next week full pre-season training(beasting) begin`s for the main club (I will obviously be recommending that they have to race round the island carrying tractor tires like we used to ).

The GOOD NEWS is that we intend to carry on playing touch rugby for the Owls/Vets every Wednesday evening throughout the rest of the summer starting next Wednesday 6th July!!!!!! The summer touch with the main club has been well attended by Owls with myself.Ady Bullett,Mellows,Scotty and Paul Hollinshead playing in most sessions (Harris refereeing) and while we have enjoyed playing against Reeders young stars I understand the novelty of trying to catch fast eighteen year olds isn't for everyone. From next Wednesday this all changes and you will be playing alongside and against your fellow vets like we did last summer.

From a fitness point of view the sessions will give us a fun way of either getting fit or in a very few cases staying fit. Both Mellows and myself have been wearing our Heart rate monitors whilst playing and have averaged over a 1000 cals per session with the main difference from the gym being we enjoyed doing it.
Cobham vets are also playing touch every Wednesday and are suggesting a touch match later in the summer if we can get the numbers.

The more Owls we have coming to these Wednesday sessions the more fun it will be for everyone and as a minimum we would like to get to 7 a -side on a half pitch. So please look at your hectic schedules and try and free yourselves up to come down for as many Wednesday night sessions as possible.
For the regular attendees please take time to persuade at least one of your lazier mates to come down.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next Wednesday and in the weeks ahead.

cheers
Kev
