Nothing for ages and then two come along at once! The Vandals squad that travelled to Guildford did not come back empty handed - a 5-2 victory against Chobham saw us secure the Shield.
This followed a narrow loss 1-0 in our first game to Old Reigatians, in a game that we could and perhaps should have won. We then beat Chobham 1-0 in a closely fought contest, before rounding off our pool with a loss to a strong Cobham team.
The semi final saw Sutton and Epsom crying off when they saw the assembled Vandals might and so we were left to face Chobham again once they'd seen off hosts Guildford. We saved our best performance until last, as we really took the game to Chobham, who were out for revenge after we beat them in the pool. Each Vandals try drew a quick response and the scores were locked at 2-2 at half time.
The second half was a different story as the Vandals stepped up a couple of gears. Chobham were harried off the ball and our defence was heroic. Two great counter attacks saw us stretch out a 4-2 lead, and with last play called we decided to add the icing to the cake with another well- worked try. This was a great performance by all the team, and it was great to see how much it meant to everyone at the end of a long day's rugby.
Well done to all, thanks to Mark, Toby and Chris for running the show.
